Which
Way Did They Go?
Tales from a Tour Operator
You're Not God You Know! More tales from a Tour
Operator
If
you click on the links to the left you can read excerpts from "Which
Way Did They Go?" and the continuance, "You're
Not God You Know!".
With my wife, Maureen I was a tour operator organizing and escorting tours
worldwide for 23 years. The first book tells of my early life up until
I found myself by chance in the travel business and subsequent adventures
through the 1980s to 1990. Excerpts from this book include: 'All
In Sequence' (150 sequence dancers in Florida) and 'Which
Way Did They Go?' (A disastrous trip to Paris)
In 1992 Airtours (now My Travel) announced
that the name of their newly acquired holiday shops would be 'Going Places',
the name we had been trading under for more than 12 years. The first chapter
of the second book tells of our reaction to this news and the subsequent
outcome. The two chapters I have extracted for you to sample from "You're
Not God You Know!" are "A Lifting
Experience" (about an overloaded lift becoming stuck between
floors in a London hotel) and " Millenium Mistake"
(a disastrous trip to Italy in the year 2000).
Among other tales told in this book are 'Pammy'
(The little girl Santa didn't forget), 'Fooling the
French' (Blockade breaking in France), 'Where
Was the Money?' (A white-water capsize in New Zealand).
